Drum (Machine) Roll

I studied jazz and rock drumming and at a certain point I messed around with congas too. It's pretty hard to record drums and make them sound good, so when drum machines became cheap I was pretty interested. My first was the Roland Drumatix Tr-606. That cheesy sounding box was all you could get in the early 80s unless you had big bucks for a Linndrum, which I didn't. I got rid of that junky 606 as soon as Roland made the 707, which had sampled sounds and MIDI. I wish I had known how valuable the 606 would become years later with the advent of techno!

I'm pining for Roland's V-drums today, but at the moment I have nothing in the drum hardware department. Here's a rundown on all my posts about drum machines, drum modules and pad devices I have owned over the years. I'm sure I've forgotten something. . .
